Chapter 684: Baraqiel Baraqijal (Part 2)
Point-of-View: Baraqiel Baraqijal
———————————————————————————
These attacks are powerful, but with my Electrolocation, I can react much faster than I would normally be able to. I shall keep evading until they wear themselves out, and then-...
Huh?
My eyes widened in alarm as dozens of leafy branches burst out of several windows of the buildings around me, zipping in and converging around me in an instant.
I began to ascend as fast as I could, grimacing as a branch struck my right leg and rapidly wrapped around it, constricting tightly before jerking down with immense force and hurling me down towards the ground.
I braced myself, right before my back slammed onto the ground with immense force, eliciting a sharp gasp from me upon impact. A drilling burst of blue energy then came plummeting down towards me, bathing the surrounding area in a pale glow.
I quickly rolled out of the way, the energy grazing the side of my right arm and shaving off a layer of my skin, a golden glow shining out of the wound as I hurriedly flew back up into the air. Suddenly, a glowing dog-like humanoid creature sprang out from behind a nearby balcony, unleashing a roaring blast of flames at me from its jaws.
I coated my left hand in Divine Lightning and swung my arm across, batting the flames away with the back of my hand. The dog-like creature snarled as it closed in on me, digging its claws into my sides and opening its mouth.
As it began to snap its jaws around my head, I unleashed an intense burst of Divine Lightning, blasting the creature away before firing out a flurry of Lux blasts all around me, keeping my enemies at bay.
Hm, the humans, as well as that strange woman, are keeping their distance and observing. I see, Kaivel Intrix intends to use his summons to discern more of my capabilites before he and the others make their move.
And perhaps he's hoping that his summons can force me to unleash my full power. Well, if that is his intent, it won't be long before he gets his wish, and then, he will come to regret it.
But not yet...just a little longer, I just need a bit more time...
The problem is, it's becoming difficult to use Electrolocation. His summons are already tougher to track with that technique than humans are, for some reason, and to make matters worse, there's interference in the air.
One of his summons is capable of using lightning, that's part of how he escaped me earlier. But still, how can just one individual generate this much electric interference in such a short amount of time? That particular summon appeared to be fairly weak too, based on the brief glimpse I saw of him.
Tch, the summons are starting to surround me again. The long-eared one and the humanoid dog-like one, and I can vaguely sense motion from two other presences I can't see...with the interference in the air, I can't quite lock onto their exact positions. Meanwhile, the humans are continuing to keep their distance.
I took a moment to compose myself, my gaze darting around as the long-eared and dog-like summon rushed in towards me from either side, the former through the air and the latter below along the ground.
The long-eared one veered across as I fired out a rapid bolt of Divine Lightning at him, evading it before unleashing a piercing beam of blue energy at me. I swerved across the air to evade it, before launching a swirling blast of Lux towards him, hitting his chest before he could react and blasting him away.
A loud crash rang out as he slammed onto the side of a building, right as the dog creature snapped its jaws open and unleashed a deafening howl up towards me.
I tensed slightly as the wave of sound engulfed me, dazing me momentarily as several windows of the surrounding buildings shattered. Suddenly, dozens of branches came extending towards me from the buildings, the dog creature swinging its claws up in my direction and firing slashing waves of force up towards me.
I narrowly avoided getting caught by the branches, a shallow cut appearing across the side of my left leg as one of the slashing waves hit me. I then sensed another presence rushing in from behind, I quickly fired out a blast of Divine Lightning at the dog before spinning around, a rapid electric blur closing in on me.
Some kind of glowing reptilian humanoid creature...so, Kaivel Intrix has at least two summons capable of generating lightning, that explains how they were able to interfere with my Electrolocation so quickly.
As the reptilian creature closed in on me and drove its claws towards my throat, I twisted my body across to evade the strike, before grabbing the creature's wrist with my right hand and grasping the top of its head with my left, unleashing a blast of Lux and destroying the creature before it could react.
Its body disintegrated into energy and faded away, before I triggered a burst of Divine Lightning around myself as the long-eared one, his body stiffening sharply as I struck him, electrocuting his body.
I then whipped my right arm across, firing out a slashing wave of Lux and decapitating him. There, three of the summons have been destroyed. The fourth one I sensed hasn't shown itself, I should-...huh? Wait...where did the humans go?
Damn it, they hid while I my focus was on the summons, where did they-...?!
"
Hm?
What is that? A glass ball?
As the transparent sphere came hurtling towards me, I fired out a blast of Lux as it began to close in, hitting and shattering it-...wha-...?!
I let out a sharp gasp as a vile, pungent odor erupted out of the sphere as I shattered it, my eyes tearing up as I coughed and choked, the sensation burning my throat. Wh-What is this...?!
I-I possess the Status Effect Immunity Skill, toxins and poisons should have no effect on this body, s-so how...?!
Before I could finish my thought, I froze as I spotted a dark red glow rushing in in my peripheral. I turned across and began to veer away, but I was too slow to react, the explosive projectile hitting my chest and erupting, the explosion sharply intensifying as the pungent gas ignited...
