Chapter 700 - 613: Creator (7)
"It’s the Starry Singer!" The host’s voice was extremely excited, "The Starry Singer has launched the ’Slumber of Stars’, Miss Tang Xin has arrived on the battlefield!"
Bai Youyou regained her senses and smashed the approaching undead with one heavy blow.
Tang Xin, holding Bai Wei’an in her arms, landed on the ground. Gazing at the woman emitting a warm porcelain-like radiant glow, she looked towards Bai Youyou.
No words were needed; with just one glance, they understood each other’s thoughts.
Bai Youyou swiftly moved towards Tang Xin’s direction, swinging her Heavy Hammer to clear any obstacles in her path.
Tang Xin held her String Sword, standing in the midst of the Nether River, slaying any approaching undead.
"Opina... Opina!"
Gernika’s mental state had fallen into final madness, shouting desperately, also moving towards Bai Wei’an.
With a casual wave, the surrounding undead were torn to pieces, dissipating amidst pitiful wails.
"You should have been buried in the Nether River, why... why appear here again?"
"You are a wandering soul, why return to this cold plain?"
"Your compassionate world has been devastated by the flames of war, your beloved children have all been killed, remaining here will only bring you endless suffering..."
Gernika’s angry voice again revealed grief and desolation, seeming weak, like a king watching his Divine Kingdom fall, his warriors turning into undead.
"You are already dead, you are already dead!"
"Go back... fall asleep, I will come to accompany you soon."
No one could respond to this mad king, Bai Wei’an, after the previous attack, fell into a deep coma, visibly weakening, her rational module sustaining her consciousness was filled with cracks, seemingly about to shatter at any moment.
Slowly, those cracks extended from the module to the surface of Bai Wei’an’s body, the warm porcelain turning cold, she was about to break.
Tang Xin attempted to heal Bai Wei’an, but to no avail. Initially, those life energies could mend the cracks upon entering the other’s body, but soon, the cracks reappeared, more densely than before.
No matter how Tang Xin tried to remedy, she couldn’t heal Bai Wei’an, whose state resembled an infinite death-loop Life Equation; its symbols forged by underlying logic, she couldn’t defy the fundamental logic unless she could overwrite the counter-equation.
Time ticked away; Bai Youyou was stranded amidst the flood of the undead, unable to advance even a bit. The Slumber of Stars ended, and those raging monsters noticed Tang Xin in the middle, simultaneously swarming forward.
Endless monsters poured from the sky, twisted-faced entities filling the scarlet sky, completely occupying the small area where the blue-haired girl stood.
The shrill howls were in her ears, a sleeping woman in her arms, a king walking on the Nether River in the distance, the sky stained by blood and fire.
Luminous sword light like snow swung, blood spots spilled across Tang Xin’s face, blood streaks suddenly appeared on the girl’s shoulders, Tang Xin frowned slightly. No matter how she swung the String Sword, monsters breached the gaps in the sword light, leaving a wound on her body.
Tang Xin looked up and met Bai Youyou’s gaze, unable to understand the near-pleading emotion in those eyes. Bai Youyou’s lips moved lightly, seemingly saying:
"Save her."
In Tang Xin’s impression, Bai Youyou didn’t speak much, tending to answer questions rather than ask them. It was rare for her to make a request like now.
The girl always appeared strong, able to endure any pain silently, only complaining a bit when deceived.
That injured gaze, she saw for the first time.
Tang Xin once joked to Bai Youyou about this point, saying rabbits are very tolerant animals, seldom making noise despite enduring pain.
She remembered clearly, Bai Youyou answered this question particularly seriously at that time.
She said she had seen too many curtains; ordinary rabbits cry out when hurt. The laboratory rabbits were Sireland’s giant white rabbits or Chichu Heaven’s lop-eared rabbits; such rabbits are tolerant, silent because they’re confused about their pain, unsure of what is happening.
"Go, Tang Xin!"
A call dragged Tang Xin back to reality. She saw Bai Youyou shouting again in her direction.
Endless monsters had trapped her in the middle, the increasing injuries made her aware of her Life Value dropping to a dangerous state.
Gernika’s roar echoed across the sky, a tsunami-like black wave was sweeping towards here; a tsunami formed by countless undead, the dam’s scale expanding visibly, perhaps soon the Nether River would flood this area.
"Go!" Bai Youyou shouted hoarsely. "Tang Xin, what are you standing there dumbly for?"
Seeing Tang Xin still unmoved, oblivious to her worsening injuries, and still silently healing Bai Wei’an’s injuries, Bai Youyou gritted her teeth slightly.
Watching the monsters approach, the girl swung her String Sword belatedly, killing them.
Knowing the girl as she did, Bai Youyou knew that most of the time the girl was decisive and rational, except when dealing with important people around her, showing an extremely stubborn side.
The girl discerned the special feelings Bai Youyou had for Bai Wei’an.
Nameless irritation made Bai Youyou somewhat angry, smashing the Edger blocking her path. The girl always did this; couldn’t she see that she was more important to them now?
Bai Youyou could no longer care about so much, discarding the heavy hammer difficult to wield, bracing against the waves with her bare hands, arduously heading towards Tang Xin.
An undead shriek crawled out from the Nether River, lunging forward, Bai Youyou spread her fingers to grab it, her eyes cold as steel. With a spark-infused grip, that twisted face quickly deformed and collapsed, finally crushed outright.
The nameless irritability turned into a blazing fire, increasingly intense. She couldn’t understand why the girl always disregarded her safety, blind to her anger.
"Get out of my way!"
Bai Youyou shouted loudly, swinging her hand fiercely, imposing a mighty restriction centered on her, within a fifty-meter radius.
Golden restriction descended from the heavens, forcibly pressing any moving undead onto the ground, a resonant ’dung’ sound, a massive clock manifested above, judgment’s light illuminating the entire battlefield!
The undead struggled to rise, but the more they tried to escape the oppressive constraint, the deeper their bodies sank into the ground, skulls eventually crushed, limbs turning into scrap iron.
Thousands of undead in the Nether River, concurrently imposed restrictions drained Bai Youyou’s Spiritual Power, her face turning pale.
The simultaneous pressure burdened Bai Youyou greatly, causing her to kneel on one knee.
Hot blood constantly trickled from her forehead, obscuring Bai Youyou’s vision, she could only extend her hand towards Tang Xin, desperately trying to signal something.
Tang Xin noticed Bai Youyou’s movement, subconsciously halted her healing action, chest then pierced by an arc-shaped blade, raised high into the air.
A shadow emerged slowly behind her, blood splattering upward, Tang Xin’s pupils quivering slightly. Looking back, she found an Assassin shadow had silently snuck up behind her.
These monsters, weren’t just one.
