Chapter 1080 1080: A Change?
"Ah… shocking." Gustav laughed as he twitched, rising from the crater when the warrior mage appeared before him with a fast swing towards the demon's neck.
The chains around his wings burst forward with lightning speed, forcing Grey to leap away.
The next second, he crashed onto his knees.
Looking downward, one of the chains had found its mark in his thigh.
And now, it yanked backward, sliding from his flesh and forcing the Supreme Magus to grind his teeth in pain.
"You are really my son. Nobody has been able to land a hit on me in my demon form for decades. Years and nobody could try that. But you did. Crazy."
Grinding his teeth, Grey pushed himself to his feet.
Blood rolled freely down his leg as he huffed and panted.
His breathing turned ragged already.
Sweat drenched his whole face with blood rolling down his punctured side and abdomen.
He was losing stamina by the second, and if something didn't change soon, he might die of blood loss before Gustav actually killed him.
'If only I was a god. Ha! Immortal beings, huh? Damn Gustav! Now I know why the Emperor said I won't win. Apart from being an Original, Gustav is also a demon. Double impact of immortality. How am I going to kill him now?'
"By the way," Grey sighed outwardly as he shifted into a stance with his sword raised in front of his face.
His face darkened with a hardened resolve.
"I'm not your son."
Bang!
He lunged forward as he caught sight of the chains moving and shooting his way with blazing speed, but Grey didn't care as a yellow wave swirled around his sword and he spun around, parrying the links to the side with a tidal wave smashing into them and sending the chains hurling away.
With one fierce lunge, his sword was hurtling towards Gustav's head with top speed.
CLANG!
The sword was intercepted by a metal wall, followed by a heavy hit of a metal club from the side that was supposed to send the warrior mage flying.
But digging his feet into the earth, he refused to go flying.
Lifting his weapon above his head, he swung it downward, causing a huge wave of yellow ki to crash into the hammer that had slammed into him.
Cracks appeared all around the hammer and soon, it exploded in a rain of fragmented metal shards.
They hovered in the air for a second before hurtling towards the warrior mage.
He wanted to block, but he knew he couldn't deflect them all as some of the shards found their marks on his face, leg, and arm.
But he didn't care as his hands moved like a blur, making quick work of the fragments when Gustav appeared before him with a powerful punch rushing towards the Supreme Magus' face.
Ducking under the punch that shook the whole planet, ki violently wrapped around the Supreme Magus' hand, which he hammered into Gustav's side with the force of a train.
The demon didn't move an inch from his initial spot as the ground cracked massively from the impact of the hit.
From above, Gustav's hands crashed into Grey's head, forcing his whole body into the earth that billowed into the air.
Slamming his hands into the ground, the warrior mage vaulted into the air in time as a follow-up stomp came speeding towards his head.
The stomp smashed into the ground, turning it into fine dust.
Landing away, Grey coughed out a mouthful of blood.
Gustav took a step and appeared before the warrior mage with a sharp uppercut that rocketed toward his head.
Crossing his hands in front of his face, he absorbed the impact of the punch that caused his bones to rattle violently inside.
His teeth were clenched as he pushed Gustav away when a metal spear darted toward him from below.
Trying to leap away, he suddenly saw lightning crackle around the spear, which suddenly exploded forward with lightning-fast speed.
It crashed into his side, ripping a hole through and causing red mist to spray into the air.
Feeling the urge to cough out another mouthful of fluid, the Supreme Magus clasped his teeth hard and landed a meter away.
Only for Gustav to be seen standing there with his chains lunging toward the warrior mage with lightning-fast speed.
Grey had already anticipated this, as he had already set a trap.
The ground beneath Gustav's feet lit up with a yellow cadence followed by a huge explosion that caused the ground to cave in.
Unfortunately for the warrior mage, Gustav had already taken to the skies and now, his metal chains were speeding toward him with breakneck speed.
Left with no other option, Grey's hands blurred through the air, grabbing hold of the chains that still ripped through his ki coating and hands.
He held the links tight even as they were pushing him backward, causing his heels to dig deep trenches into the earth.
He didn't stop.
Then, with all his Ki swirling to a single spot—the hands holding the chains—he roared with all his might as he yanked the constraints, causing Gustav to be thrown out of the air with a forceful pull.
Grinding his teeth, Grey spun the chains around and around, causing Gustav to cut through the air a few times before he was brutally slammed into the ground, causing a wide hollow to split open instantly.
Dust billowed into the air as the chains wriggled free from the warrior mage's hands.
Grey was now with his hands on his knees, coughing the blood he tried so hard to hold back.
'Again? So fast?'
The demon could be seen rising out of the dust almost instantly.
With a flap of his wings, the dust settled immediately to reveal his furious glare.
"I think I have played with you long enough, Grey."
'Huh?'
The crimson wing that remained frozen behind his back finally flapped once.
Just once, and the whole air changed immediately.
"Demon magic arts,"
Grey quickly rose to his full height.
'I-I-I don't like the sound of that….'
"Blood magic."
Instantly, all the blood Grey and Gustav had spilled across the planet rose into the air, rushing toward where the demon stood with a now calm expression.
Grey gulped immediately as the fluid all shifted and changed, forming spears made entirely of blood.
'When I asked for a change. This wasn't what I wanted damn it!'
