Chapter 267 - 264: Getting Pregnant...

She moved so quickly that Holly Summers didn’t see the name on the phone. She asked curiously, "Who was that? Acting all mysterious!"

As Clara Grant walked toward the balcony, she glanced at the name ’Seth’ on her screen and replied to Holly Summers, "It’s no one."

Holly Summers teased from behind her, "Oh? This ’no one’ calls you every day. So who exactly is this ’no one’?"

A blush crept onto Clara Grant’s face. It was true; Seth Quinn had been calling her nearly every day. The calls were never long—sometimes they would just chat for a few moments before hanging up.

But strangely, those brief calls were enough to put Clara Grant’s mind at ease for the entire night, bringing her sweet dreams until dawn.

What she didn’t know was that after they hung up, while she was peacefully lost in sweet dreams, the man on the other end of the line was tormented by an insatiable longing, tossing and turning, unable to sleep, frustrated that he could only hear her voice and not see her in person.

Once she was on the balcony, Clara Grant finally pressed the answer button and held the phone to her ear. "Hello."

Perhaps she didn’t even realize it herself, but her voice was incredibly gentle and shy as she said it.

Her tone sent a ripple through Seth Quinn’s heart, and his own voice unconsciously softened in response. "What are you up to? Asleep yet?"

When softened, the man’s voice became low and husky, and incredibly pleasant to the ear.

She’d often heard other girls say that a certain guy’s voice was so good it could make their ears pregnant, but she’d always found that to be an exaggeration. ’A voice, no matter how good, can’t actually make your ears pregnant, right?’

Even at the height of her old crush on Miles Quinn, she had only thought his voice was nice and pleasant, nothing as dramatic as they made it out to be.

But now, listening to Seth Quinn’s voice, she was suddenly having that very same feeling—as if her ears really were about to get pregnant.

Clara Grant didn’t know what wire got crossed in her brain, but with the thought of "getting pregnant" on her mind, the words slipped right out of her mouth. "Getting pregnant..."

"What?" Seth Quinn’s voice shot up, and Clara Grant could even hear what sounded like a chair being knocked over on his end.

Only then did she realize what she’d said. She was instantly overcome with mortification, wishing she could grow a shell and retreat into it.

"No, that’s not it! I—I was just rehearsing a scene with Holly Summers," Clara Grant explained, completely flustered.

Seth Quinn quickly ran through all of Tina’s scenes in *A Lifetime of Splendor* in his mind, but he couldn’t recall any part of the plot involving a pregnancy.

He had a photographic memory, but for a high-powered CEO juggling countless responsibilities, to specially make time to read a script just for Clara Grant’s sake was a testament to how hard he was trying.

Seth Quinn was busy running through the plot in his head and didn’t say anything for a moment, so Clara Grant surrendered. "...Alright, fine. I zoned out. I was thinking about what other girls always say—that some guys have voices so good they can make your ears pregnant—so I just spoke without thinking..."

Before she could finish, she heard Seth Quinn’s amused voice on the other end. "So, you think my voice is good enough to get your ears pregnant, too?"

"Of... of course not! Don’t be so narcissistic!" Clara Grant retorted, her face beet-red, though her denial lacked any real conviction.

"Actually..." Seth Quinn’s voice, which seemed to possess a magical quality, drifted into her ears again. "Instead of my voice making you pregnant, I’d be much happier if another part of you ended up pregnant."

If those words had come from any other man, Clara Grant would have found them vulgar and perverted, but coming from his lips, they took on an entirely different quality.

It was full of seductive teasing, yet she didn’t feel the disgust she would have expected. Instead, she just felt shy.

When she realized this, Clara Grant scorned herself inwardly even as her embarrassment turned to indignation. Her voice rose. "You pervert! Did you call for a reason? If not, I’m hanging up!"

Seth Quinn felt he was being unfairly accused. ’But she was the one who started this whole topic!’ he thought.

"Alright, alright, let’s get down to business." Seth Quinn’s voice turned more serious. "I see you don’t have any scenes tomorrow afternoon or evening. After you wrap up your part in the morning, I’ll have Chase Childs come pick you up and bring you back to the city."
