Chapter 217 - 214: Suspecting It Was a Dream

In a huff, she changed the name, then grabbed both phones and went back downstairs. She was halfway down when she saw Seth Quinn push the door open. He was dressed in a white sweatsuit and drenched in sweat.

Clara Grant froze. ’He went out for a workout?’

Seth Quinn looked up and saw her too. He bent over at the doorway to change his shoes, then walked toward her. "You’re awake?"

Clara Grant reached the bottom of the stairs and stopped just a step away from Seth Quinn.

Now that she was closer, she could see his face more clearly. His nearly flawless skin was covered in beads of sweat. Probably from the workout, his complexion was healthy and flushed, and there was an undeniable light in his eyes.

He looked so refreshed and full of energy. It was as if he wasn’t the one who’d put in so much effort last night.

Clara Grant was starting to wonder if last night had just been an erotic dream. ’Otherwise, how could she be the only one who was exhausted?’

As her mind raced, Seth Quinn’s voice sounded again, this time even more tender. "You were worn out last night. Why didn’t you sleep in?"

...

’This man... Was it really okay for him to be so blunt all the time?’

To hide her discomfort, Clara Grant held out his phone to him and said, her tone half-reproachful, "Why didn’t you take your phone with you?"

She failed to notice the hint of a playful pout in her own voice.

Seth Quinn took it with a smile, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and said, "I went for a run. You were still sleeping, so I didn’t take it."

...

Somehow, his seemingly ordinary words made Clara’s heart beat a little faster.

’Did he mean he didn’t take his phone because he figured I’d be asleep and wouldn’t call him?’

"Aren’t we supposed to go see Cherie? Let’s get a move on." To hide her reaction, she turned her face away, walked around him, and sat down on the living room sofa.

She was on a tight schedule; she had to be back on set in the afternoon.

Seth Quinn was used to being the one in control, always the one to rush others; no one ever dared to rush him. But he wasn’t the least bit angry at her impatience. Instead, he was perfectly calm. "I’ll go upstairs to shower and change. Wait for me, I’ll be quick."

As he headed upstairs, Seth Quinn turned on his phone and glanced at the screen. He unlocked it, and the screen opened directly to the call log, which was still open. The very first entry was "Errand Girl."

He couldn’t help but glance back at Clara Grant. Her face was blank, but she seemed a little down. ’So she called me, and that’s how she found out I didn’t have my phone?’

’In that case... did she see that name, too?’

...

He’d said he’d be quick, and he was. In about ten minutes, Seth Quinn came downstairs, showered, changed, and looking completely refreshed.

When Clara Grant saw him coming down, she stood up. Seth Quinn came to a stop in front of her.

He suddenly looked at her with a smile and said, "Our outfits match nicely today."

Clara Grant glanced down and saw that he was right. She was wearing a black-and-white dress, while Seth Quinn had on a white shirt under a black suit jacket.

"You look great in that dress," Seth Quinn’s voice sounded by her ear again.

Clara Grant looked up at him, a wry smile playing on her lips. "Are you saying I look good, or that the dress looks good? So, are you complimenting me, or complimenting yourself on your good taste?"

Seth Quinn had a feeling she was angry.

"I’m complimenting you, of course," he said, following Clara Grant as she walked toward the door. "What do you want to eat for breakfast?"

"I don’t want anything."

Her voice was clipped. Seth Quinn was now certain she was angry.

"You have to eat something, even if you don’t feel like it. Skipping breakfast is bad for you," Seth Quinn said, pulling her to a stop. His expression was serious.
